HK Budget 2011 Video: Protesters Try to Steal Spotlight

Hong Kong — With media flocking to the Legislative Council building and Hongkongers watching closely, many protesters gathered in Central on February 23 to try to steal some of the spotlight from Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah and his budget speech.

Some protesters were calling for tax reforms, others for more government assistance. Also making a stand were residents of Choi Yuen Tsuen who have been fighting government plans to demolish the New Territories village for a proposed high-speed railway.
