Global News: Japan Promotes its Food and Culture in Hong Kong
| — By yujia_he on May 15, 2012 at 12:38 amThe event lasted for three days from March 2 to March 4. As the website stresses, the display-only exhibit focuses on the taste, quality and especially safety of Japanese food. Although there’s no mention of the Fukushima nuclear crisis in the official promotion, many exhibitors hinted the concern by pointing out the distance between the production places and Fukushima; or directly told the visitors not to worry as there’s “no bad influence”.
Japanese businessmen displayed their food products and invited visitors to food tasting. The presenter, Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries arranged different games displaying Japanese culture. There were also series of interactive activities.
The food (and drinks) on display ranges from wine, juice, jam, cooking oil and tea to seafood, vegetables, meat and so on. Most of them, as the businessmen claimed, are “100% natural”.
